MEGA Customer to Present Enterprise Architecture Program

Glasgow City Council project highlighted at Gartner conference

LONDON, May 10, 2010 – Dr. Colin Birchenall, enterprise architect, will speak at the Gartner Enterprise Architecture Summit on May 17-18 in London about an enterprise architecture (EA) program for Glasgow City Council in Scotland.

Birchenall has been using the MEGA Suite, a leading enterprise architecture (EA) and business process analysis (BPA) solution, to help implement the EA approach.

He will speak on A Practical Approach to Architecting Local Government Service Reform. The talk will focus on how Glasgow City Council partnered with Serco, an international service company that specializes in improving ICT, to implement EA as a way to optimize IT investments to meet citizens’ expectations for consistent, cohesive, and available city services.

The partnership of Serco and Glasgow City Council resulted in ACCESS, a joint venture. Birchenall will describe how ACCESS implemented the EA program, the steps in the process to plan and deploy the program, and the results that were achieved.

The MEGA Suite offers a comprehensive solution that encompasses all dimensions of EA, from strategy and business modeling to IT systems design and portfolio rationalization and business process optimization. The software helps organizations anticipate trends, make better organizational decisions, and reduce unknowns, delays, and costs.

Birchenall has worked with ACCESS for two years establishing the EA practice and maintaining the ICT strategy for Glasgow City Council. Before joining ACCESS, he was at British Telecom, where he played a key role in developing and implementing BT’s service-oriented architecture (SOA). He has extensive experience in architecting, designing and developing enterprise-class ICT solutions, and has spent a number of years dedicated to applications, data, and EA.
