According to the Forrester Research report, “Customer demand has created an emerging market for integrated tools for strategy development and execution monitoring. […] In the age of the customer, firms are reinventing themselves on a continual basis. The agility required to take advantage of new opportunities or meet customer demands requires them to have greater transparency into the strategic planning process and have access to a broad range of performance data to improve decision making.

“Vendors of enterprise architecture management suites, portfolio management tools, and business and technology planning tools are now enhancing their products to support the full strategy-to execution lifecycle,” the report also stated.

Forrester conducted this research to help strategic planning roles select an appropriate tool for their strategy management process. The report highlights vendor capabilities in supporting the phases in the strategy development life cycle: environment assessment, strategic definition, options analysis and portfolio road map.
