“The Enterprise Architecture Management Tool Survey, 2008” from the Technical University of Munich in Germany, has named the MEGA Modeling Suite as a leading solution for modeling and designing an optimum enterprise architecture (EA).

The study experts were impressed by the MEGA Modeling Suite’s flexibility, ease-of-use, and extensive analysis and reporting tools, which earned it one of the top positions in the survey. In many of the evaluated areas, the MEGA International software was well ahead of specialized IT architecture vendors, as well as solutions that also support business process modeling.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate EA products from leading international vendors. A previous study was published in 2005. The study defines enterprise architecture as “a continuous and iterative process controlling and improving the existing and planned IT support for an organization.” Enterprises use EA to analyze and plan their business so they can make continual improvements, become leaner and react nimbly to changes and trends in their markets. EA provides a complete view of the processes of the business, and the technology that supports it, and helps organizations reduce waste, unknowns, delays, and costs, and align business goals with IT resources.

In the study, Florian Matthes, Ph.D, the University’s chair of Software Engineering for Business Information Systems, and the study team, examined nine EA products. Besides general tool functionality, the evaluation also reviewed capabilities in several areas of EA management. The MEGA Modeling Suite was judged a leader in both areas, and was cited as being among the best solutions in terms of flexibility, infrastructure, and synchronization management.

The MEGA software’s common technology platform and user interface enables easy, focused management of the key functions of business process analysis and optimization, EA, change management, and alignment of business goals and IT systems. 

“Besides its comprehensive functionality, many companies favor the MEGA Modeling Suite because of its flexibility and ease-of-use. Unlike other vendors, we always considered it most crucial that managers without an IT background should be able to handle our tools and use their analyses and reports for decision making,” said Rolf Irion, Managing Director, MEGA International Germany.
