Support Optimization and Control of Business Assets
LONDON, September 26, 2007 – New IBM® WebSphere®, Software AG CentraSite™, and Systar® Business Bridge® interfaces to the MEGA Modeling Suite will support optimization and control of company assets by linking the deployment of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and business process management (BPM) projects with enterprise architecture information.
These new interfaces (MEGA WID (for IBM WebSphere), MEGA for CentraSite, and MEGA BusinessBridge) will permit companies to rapidly integrate their business process modeling efforts into projects such as BPM and SOA and incorporate business activity monitoring (BAM) to validate and optimize these models with actual runtime data.
As more companies automate business processes and develop SOA solutions, they rely further on enterprise architecture (EA) to capture a global picture of their organization’s processes and services. By connecting these projects with the descriptions captured within the EA, businesses can more readily facilitate information and process reuse and comply with corporate governance objectives.
Combined with MEGA Advisor, also announced today (see separate announcement), these new interfaces offer businesses truly intelligent reporting because they integrate MEGA BPA and EA information with dynamic indicators from third party tools. Most business process modeling tools only provide an IT centric view on automated processes, but the MEGA Modeling Suite provides a global view of processes in terms of how they produce value for the customer. These so-called value chains are linked to the automated process view or the workflow; ensuring traceability of all connections from business objectives to the IT infrastructure.
The three new interfaces include:
- MEGA WID, an interface with IBM WebSphere Integration Developer (WID), a popular tool for building SOA-based integration solutions. The MEGA WID exports the MEGA process workflow description into the WID execution engine, facilitating faster authoring of BPM solutions and easier integration with external services. This interface uses the standard BPEL format, which also allows connections with other targets, such as Lombardi® Teamworks®.
- MEGA for CentraSite, a bidirectional interface enabling the integration of the MEGA Modeling Suite with CentraSite™ (co-developed by Software AG and Fujitsu), CentraSite is a comprehensive platform for SOA governance and lifecycle management encompassing a robust registry/repository. CentraSite brings structure, scale, and speed to SOA adoption by guiding reuse, automating compliance, and simplifying the underlying complexities and interdependencies. MEGA workflows can be exported into the CentraSite registry/repository, where they may be analyzed in order to automatically track dependencies between the processes and other existing artifacts. The export is based on the standard Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) format. MEGA is a strategic sponsor of the CentraSite Community, founded by Software AG and Fujitsu in order to unite partners to deliver standards-based, interoperable SOA solutions.
- MEGA BusinessBridge, an interface dedicated to the new MEGA Advisor offering, ensures that the BAM indicators managed directly within Systar BusinessBridge can be automatically accessed from the MEGA Advisor portal. A synchronization engine ensures the cross reference of data descriptions between the MEGA repository and BusinessBridge. Dedicated connectors ensure the use of BusinessBridge indicators in MEGA Advisor, or the view of any MEGA process description in the BusinessBridge environment.
