MEGA is First to Unite Application Design with Business Requirements

Creates unique, end-to-end IT system design environment

RAYNHAM, Mass., September 29, 2008 – MEGA, a pioneer in enterprise architecture (EA) and business process analysis (BPA) solutions, today introduced MEGA System Blueprint, the first software tool on the market that links application design directly with business requirements for the development of modern IT systems, especially highly complex applications, very large IT projects, and service-oriented architecture (SOA) solutions.

MEGA System Blueprint is designed for companies that develop and integrate software applications. It is a new and unique product, an addition to the MEGA Modeling Suite to create a complete environment for advanced IT system design. This approach ensures full alignment with the strategic and operational requirements demanded by the organization, its people, and processes.

From a business perspective, MEGA System Blueprint lets IT departments derive tangible value, such as flexibility in service assembly and delivery, from SOA,” said Lucio de Risi, president and CEO of MEGA.

He explained that existing EA and BPA tools lack this important, direct link from business requirements to application design. In addition, typical application design solutions such as integrated development environments (IDE) and the unified modeling language (UML) methodologies and tools to support it, fail to make the vital link with business users.

Enterprises may now use these ground-breaking MEGA solutions to support rapidly-changing business needs, manage larger, more complex software projects, combine internally-developed applications with third-party applications, and conserve resources by reusing elements for other projects,” he said.

MEGA System Blueprint provides a model-driven approach for the analysis and design of applications, and focuses on the logical specification of an IT architecture supporting a business activity. MEGA System Blueprint, following the best principles of Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN™), SOA, and UML 2, integrates the modeling disciplines of EA, business process modeling, and object oriented analysis and design (OOAD).

Technical requirements are modeled using UML 2 enriched with BPMN to support the complete specification of systems from a business process perspective. MEGA System Blueprint includes dedicated service-blueprint models to design the orchestration of services and their interoperation. As a member of the Business Modeling Task Force of the Object Management Group™ (OMG™), MEGA has long been an active leader in the development of BPMN standards.

With MEGA System Blueprint, users can define any kind of specification, including SOA projects, covering requirements analysis, functional specifications, and system design. It allows application design metadata to be stored close to information on business processes and IT architecture in a shared, central repository that provides extreme flexibility, impact analysis and automated publication.
